Defoaming of Triisobutyl Phosphate(TIBP): the mechanism and etc
1. Its physical properties.
Due to its insolubility in water, TIBP can effectively form an instable interface in the foam system, thus destroying the stability of foam. TIBP’s low surface tension enables it to effectively reduce the strength of foam film, so that foam can burst rapidly. Besides, TIBP’s good heat stability enables it to defoam effectievly at high temperature.
2.Its chemical properties.
TIBP’s short heterogeneous carbon chain helps lower the surface tension rapidly, enabling it to easilypenetrate into the interior of material. TIBP’s good solubility with many organic solvents enables it to diffuse rapidly in foam system, further destroying the stability of foam. Besides, its chemical stability ensures that TIBP will not react with components in foam system, thus ensuring a long and stable defoaming effect.
Conclusions: TIBP is one of the best defoamers widely used for textile printing, coating, concrete and etc.
3.Tips: Recommended dosage of TIBP in different applications.
*Textile printing: 0.1%-0.3% for defoaming and penetration.
*Concrete(1-10% water dilution):
with water reducing agent(WRA) : 0.01% -0.20% of WRA
without WRA: 0.1%-0.2% of concrete
for defoaming and penetration.
*Coating: 0.1%-0.5% for wetting and dispersion
